THE EXPERIENCE

What can I expect from the event? After captivating over two million visitors in Montreal and Paris, AURA arrives at San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral! Created by Moment Factory and co-presented by Fever, AURA is a nighttime multimedia experience that transforms Grace Cathedral into a living canvas celebrating the harmony between humanity and nature. Before the odyssey begins, visitors are invited to discover the site’s history and architectural details using an interactive web app (available in both English and Spanish). Then, this San Francisco landmark is reimagined with original music, illusion, lighting effects, and breathtaking projection mapping. Swirling storms, blooming ceilings, crashing waves, and star-filled skies unfold across its arches, creating a multisensory experience unlike any other.
Where is the experience located? The event is located at Grace Cathedral at 1100 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108 at the corner of California and Taylor Streets, with the main entrance at the top of the great steps on Taylor Street.
Does the experience take place in an indoor or outdoor venue? This experience is held at an indoor venue.
How long does the experience last? The AURA Experience is approximately 45-50 minutes long, divided into two parts: an immersive multimedia experience, and time to explore Grace Cathedral using the interactive web app.
What time should I arrive? Doors open 20 minutes before the scheduled time of the event. It is recommended to show up 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time of the event for pre-check. Seating is first come first serve. Doors will close 10 minutes after the scheduled time and late entry will not be permitted.
Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase? There won't be food or beverage for purchase at this event.
Is there parking available? The cathedral has limited parking available. Hourly rate differs depending on events in the area and the hours are Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 10 pm and Saturday through Sunday from 6:30 am to 10 pm. Guests are recommended to plan their parking options in advance. We recommend booking convenient parking in advance through SpotHero, the nation’s leading parking reservations app. To review pricing and parking garage options visit [Grace Cathedral’s SpotHero Parking Page.)
Is there public transportation to the event? Yes, whenever possible, we encourage the use of public transportation. Parking on Nob Hill is fairly scarce. If you need to drive, consider parking somewhere along the #1 California MUNI bus line. It is one of the city’s most frequent, dependable lines and has very convenient stops near the Cathedral both inbound and outbound. - The #1 California bus stops at Sacramento and Mason-Taylor (outbound) or Clay and Taylor, walk one block south (inbound). - The #27 Bryant bus stops at Leavenworth and California (northbound), walk one block east (up the hill) or Hyde and Sacramento (southbound), and walk two blocks east and one block south. - The California Street Cable Car stops at California and Taylor which is at the foot of the Great Stairs. - The Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason Cable Cars stop at Powell and California, walk two blocks west (up the hill) - All of the above lines connect with Market Street buses, streetcars, subways, and BART. The two closest BART stations are Embarcadero and Powell. If you wish to walk from BART to the Cathedral, Powell is closer but please note that the Powell Street hill is quite steep. If you wish to take public transportation to the Cathedral, Embarcadero is a better choice since both the California Street Cable Car and the 1 California bus have stops nearby.
Is there ADA access? Grace Cathedral has an accessible entrance for wheelchair users and others from the sidewalk on Taylor Street and from the Grace Cathedral Garage also on Taylor Street. From the bottom of the Great Steps on Taylor Street facing the cathedral, proceed north towards Sacramento Street. Just past the Great Steps, enter through the double glass doors at 1051 Taylor Street. Turn left after entering and proceed down the hall, turning right past the restrooms and continue until you reach the elevator on your right. Take the elevator to the main floor of the cathedral by pushing the button for Floor 1.
Will there be additional sessions? At this time, we cannot guarantee there will be extra dates. Please refer to the experience page for updated information on availability, as those are the confirmed dates and timings.
Is there Virtual Reality? This experience does not have virtual reality.
Is there a dress code? There's no defined dress code for this experience; a casual look will be fine. The cathedral can become chilly as the sun sets in San Francisco, we recommend bringing a jack or warm cover-up.
Will there be merchandise for sale? There will not be merchandise for sale at the event.
